Winter Falls

Winter Falls

A Poem by Breanna Ragland

Winter falls

In fields of gold

Crunch, crunch-

The sound of scrunched snow

Step, step, step

The flakes fall silently

No warmth shows

Available to reach

Step, step, step

Children giggle wildly

Laughing, laughing

Happiness all around

Step, step, stomp

Crunch, crunch

Scrape, scrape, scratch

The sound of shovels working

Step, step, step

Snow crunches loudly

It soon goes away-

Away, away, away

Gone for good never coming back

Children walk splish, splash

Puddles of mud

Stomped in- stepped in

Walked in- ran through

Step, step, stomp

Swish, swish, swash

Hop, hop, stomp

Splatter, splatter, spitter

Splutter, splutter, spatter

A swish of tan

Waves coming up for air

Breathing at last- their last

Then down once more

Its back

All over again

And what once was dark

Is now sprinkled with sparkle

Winter falls

In fields of gold
