Blue Lips, Still Heart

Blue Lips, Still Heart

A Poem by Rachel Taylor

Waves against your body
Foundation nonexistent
Underneath, motionless
Breathe in the water
Welcome the darkness

There's no turning back,
Do you wish there was?

Try to fight, forsaken one
Your life is coming to a close
You're kneeling at death's feet
This is the last chapter
Of the life you chose to end

There's no turning back,
Do you wish there was?

Keep your eyes closed
This darkness is eternal
Let your thoughts dissipate
They no longer matter
Rest your lungs, forsaken one

There's no turning back,
Do you wish there was?

You're asleep forever now
Eyes closed, lips blue
The ocean floor your home
You're heart is still, you're motionless
Is this what you wanted?

There's no turning back,
Didn't you wish there was?

Author's Note

Rachel Taylor
My main goal was to express the feelings of those who commit suicide prior to their death. This is my first poem in a very long time, let me know what you think!
