creaking memories

creaking memories

A Poem by linda m. crate

it seems as if i'm bruised as
the sky of your eyes
dotted with their white smile
funny how you go from being
someone's everything to absolutely nothing
cuts like a knife that you're the one
i gave my virginity to
a gift you didn't deserve nor
understand the significance of,
and sometimes i cry over you
rivers of rain you used to dance in
hoping one day you'll wash over
me your romance once more;
you don't care you've shattered me
slept with my eyes wide open,
and still dreamt of you -
when the sun shines i envision
the gold of your hair, when the
moon gleams i recalls the silver
of your locks, when it rains i
remember your crazy dance
drenched wolf kissing his raven
before a day of work;
and i miss those moments spent
with you, all those things we used to
do creak the stairs of my memory
at the most inconvenient moments.
