Forbidden identity

Forbidden identity

A Poem by Glee
"

Two heads are better than one

"

Austin

When I took my first step, you were there

When I rode my first bike, you were there

When I took my first class, you were there

When I had my first date, you were there

Holding me every time

Watching me every moment

Looking out for me all the time

You were there when I needed you

And not a moment passed that I never took you for granted

Austin

You were the cure for my loneliness

You were the easing of my sadness

You were the healing of my hurting

For I dared not show anyone weakness!

Who knew what they’d think of me!

How they’d take advantage of me!

Austin

You were my strength

The one I turned to when I was weak

The one I leaned on when I stumbled

For no matter what, you always knew we would make it through

Now I look at you in the mirror

Not noticing how fast time has gone by

A man of such strength and resilience

A man of such resolve and potential

Now I look at myself in the mirror

Never believing I could be him

Austin

You were the one I created to ease my pain

The only one who could never possibly hurt me

The only one who could never possibly disappoint me

You were the comforting of my sadness

The cure of my loneliness

The easing of my pain

Now I look at myself in the mirror

Failing to believe I’m him

Your well toned body

Your smooth skin

Your tucked tummy

Who knew that you could grow to be such a man!

Now I must thank you for all that you have done

Touch you

Caress you

Love you

For who else would!

And there I watched you rise like a storm

Ever growing stronger and harder

I watched you rise above the sky

Like no one had ever taken you before

You deserve it for all you have done for me

This is my thank you for all that you have done for me

Austin

But now, you must go out and find me somebody else, just like you

Somebody to play with, just like I did you

Somebody to love, just like I do you

Go out there and find me a man like you

But why so sad

Of course I will never leave you

You will always have a special place in my heart

But now its time to find somebody else, like you

Now its time to find somebody wonderful, like you

Now why don’t you find me somebody special, just like you

I know you’ll succeed, because you’ve never failed me

But why so sad

No need to be so sad, Austin

I know you don’t like to see me so sad

You are the only one who can help me find him

Because everybody thinks you do not exist

You could be whoever you want and nobody will question you

Unlike me, I have an identity to protect

You could be my forbidden identity

You could go out and be whomever you want

You could go out and be with whomever you want

For nobody thinks you exist

Very strong poem! The last line sums it up, "nobody thinks you exist"
I don't like how pessimistic it is....
But anyways, awesome poem. =)
