Speed Demon Johnny

Speed Demon Johnny

A Poem by R.Guy Behringer
"

Thinly veiled anger at a cousin of mine whose addicted to drugs.

"
Johnny was a stock car racer
wrecked everything he drove
Left hand turns was all he knew
But there was nothing in his trophy trove

See, Johnny was a stock car racer
but he never won a single race
He was addicted to speed
Would rather follow than lead
Johnny was always a loser

Since Johnny started racing
His mother foot the bill
But everyone pays for Johnnies speed
Especially his family
AGAINST THEIR WILL

Johnny WAS a race car diver
The other day he crashed and burned
But he'll be back, speeding the track
In the back of the pack because
Johnny was always a loser

I see this as a kind of allegory. There are losers out there who just won't help themselves. We can't win all the time, in any walk of life, but we should be willing to learn from our mistakes. Interesting write!

I don't know what's up with this site. No one wants to review good poems. I think you did a fine job on this. Its different than the norm here.
