On My Martha Brae Mind

On My Martha Brae Mind

A Poem by Azalea Rose

This bill isn't high as usual,  but I still must pay it.
A "must" isn't an absolute "always", just thought I'd say it.
Nature is rarely akin to a man and his financial fondling.
My rooms a bit small but it's here that I may dwell.
My body isn't me, but I guess I'm just a fleshy shell.

A starry  night on the sea and he's only looking at me.
The chatter we escape to find our way to the clouds.
He whispers in my ear, "It just was a bit too loud."
The stars inside me glitter and he mistakes me for the sky.
A beautiful night indeed, just you and I.
This moment with us forever,
White flags up to show we give up time; we surrender.

Before I talk about the content I have a slight complaint about the rhyme and rythym. Mainly that I don't really like a lot of the rhyming in this. It feels a little bit forced and to me at least it cheapens the overall experience. The rhymings also a bit inconsistent when you go line by line. Overall I feel like you could've ended up with a rythym that's more fun and interesting to read if you dropped the forced rhyming. That aside, I like it. You mix your feelings about the world with a beautiful moment you had and they end up reinforcing each other. The content feels likes it's true to you and I really like that.
