A War

A War

A Poem by Rebecca James age 10
"

poem about a soldier in WWII who died

"
I am surrounded by cheering
They thought it would last
But only i knew what
Was to come

A rifle sounded
Too fast to dodge
Blood stained soldiers
Who were not even shot

All happiness was gone
As we ran, ran to our deaths
Why would we all run
If we knew what was to come?

It is now coming to an end ,
A dead end
I run through my memories, my life
Remembering my children, parents,
My wife

And now, running
Through these dark
Tunnels
Down and down

I realize

I am dead
This courageous son
Gone
Dropped by the sound of
A gun
