Blind.

Blind.

A Poem by Rebecca Hope Rouston

Moving about the walls to find the light

Blinded eyes see more than yours can

Screams in my head grow louder now

Why can't I find the damn light?

A burning pulses through my veins

I can hear your voice inside of me

Time is almost spinning backwards now

Why is my body still so cold?

I know he f***s with me whenever I'm here

You've told me what he's really capable of

There's shattered glass everywhere now

Why can't I escape this empty room?

My fingertip catches the switch just then

Light illuminates the bloody room

I see the damage I have done now

Why would I do this to you?

I really enjoy the questioning in the poem. It's nice transitioning in this, a great metaphor for the relationship you are describing. The guilt the speaker feels for the unfixed damage painfully shines through in the words, the flow, and the epipany by the end when she finds the light. Really great work!

Have a nice day!

Such a powerful expression, keeping us anticipating, blind as it were until the end. Such a haunting mystery, dark and cold. An amazing write!

I really like the line that says "I see the damage that I have done now" It really puts the focus on what the poem is about. really good!
