Enlightenment

A Poem by scarlett rutherford
"

This is the only poem I've ever written.

"
Happiness wasn’t a lasting emotion I knew,
Even as a small child.
It was just a wave
sometimes hiding all the noise of my mind.
I pretended I didn’t have things I was running from.
Most humans don’t know
that they always have sad background noise.
And they are overtaken by their mind.
It is such a sad reality,
it keeps me awake.
Everyone you and I know is unconscious.
No one truly understands,
That all that really exists in Now.
And the illusion of time is the Devil.
Time itself creates monstrous things.
Anxiety is fear of the future
Depression is dwelling on the past
People are so caught up in time
No one stops to smell the roses
No one stops to look at the trees
No one stops to smell the fresh air
No one stops to taste their mother’s cooking
No one stops.
Sad,
yes,
But true.
When you are free from time,
When you are free from your mind
You are free from fear
You are free from sadness
You are free from anger
You are Free.
There is nowhere to look
But inside yourself
For freedom
So look inside yourself
And stop.
Stop to love.
Stop to be free.
True freedom is not wealth,
Or a significant other.
True freedom is happiness.
True freedom lies within.
Every last soul
In the Manifested
Is in the wrong state of mind
That is consumed,
Overtaken,
By time,
And by thought.
And when you reach the Unmanifested
When you reach a place of being that
Is not consumed by time and thought
You
Are Free.
