A Drunken Sonnet

A Drunken Sonnet

A Poem by Reyvrex Questor Reyes
"

Sometimes the record low of love and fortune in your life happen simultaneously.

"

When in my lowest stock of wine and praise,
I just content myself with this cheap beer
And wish in some hotel I with my raise,
In yuletide, enjoying a good cheer;
But most I get from work that I contend
Is reprimand from bossy chief and staff,
And scorn from lady love whom I pretend
To have, when all I get from her is chaff;
And thinking of this love, this love of fools,
That no angel finds worthy of a cent,
Or else, meagerly priced as would cheap wools,
I wonder how my glossy life have went;
.... Seeing her face, and hearing her tirade,
.... I might with bandits give my life to trade.

So this has an Edgar A. Poe ambiance, and he is one of my all time favorites...
so I must say, great job. I do think I've read this before, so it may be an oldie but
goody?....(though I may be wrong....) Either way, I always love reading your very
beautifully written sonnets....so please keep on writing/posting.
