scattered matter

 

the head is emptied as matter shatters

pieces scatter and loudly clatter

across the floor like so many sharpened lego bricks

demeanor slick as if playing tricks

in shuttered silence, if it only sticks;

and if it would somehow matter.

            gathering bits from hollowed places

            attempt to stuff in proper spaces

            align the borders to foster order,

            close the gap with stitched up laces,

            replace it in the cortex sorter to

            recognize the jagged faces…..

hemmed in by all the foreign matter,

madder than the happy hatter.

the scattered matter-- matters-- no matter how noisy the chatter or how battered.. might be madder than the happy hatter, but with pieces like this- those bricks stick with witty tricks.. might not be a rhyme or reason, any order to the disorder of the cortex sorter, but it sure is fun to watch the places and spaces it took my mind this time... I love the word play and fast paced rhythm.. Thank you to Anto for sending me, I thoroughly enjoyed this:)

April, Yes this was kind of a fun one to write. Once I got the idea of the alliterative wordplay it kind of typed itself on my (non-magic) keyboard. Hey, that was fun too. Fast paced edginess to it with cleverly place images that support the rhyme and the message. So many favorite lines that I can't chose so how about the whole poem.
