I CAN'T EXPLAIN IT

I CAN'T EXPLAIN IT

A Poem by Sir Robert Robbie Lord Dudley

I can't explain it

I couldn't hide

My feelings inside
I couldn't hide
My feelings inside
I with eye quick
To see you there
And a fair flower set in
There-in your pretty hair
Glistening wet
Eyes like the stars
Glimmering far
Glittering rain
Love i have for you
Over moon somewhere
Like the flowers gone
Soon to return
Of a bloom fresh
And painful as a thorn
Like love beautiful
Always unfolding onto
I look at you
You look at me
Give you glad-eye
To see you there
And a fair flower set in
There-in your pretty hair
Glistening wet
Eyes like the stars
Glimmering far
Glittering rain
How can i really know
How we met wherefore
And when before
I can't explain it
I'm sure of it
I stand here wanting
All is destined to
Fall outside
Our meeting
Again one day
I can't explain it
I couldn't hide
My feelings inside
I couldn't hide
My feelings inside
I try to hide underneath
Feelings inside
If ever you are
Sending signs
That it was a time
Shines on your face
Long afterwards
Howsoever I sometimes
Wander'd near
Strolling along in a song
To be heard
I couldn't hide
My first time
Dreaming back
Drifting back
Turning back
At the opening
Flood gates
I can't explain it
I couldn't hide
I got a ladder
Somewhere in time
A constant stream
That leads
To the river's side
That weeps
Then to ~ much further
Than that
