above and below i'm alive

above and below i'm alive

A Poem by Sir Robert Robbie Lord Dudley

the sunshine gives much

rose up cloudless

in the clear blue sky

the beating drum

the beating heart

in the same air

as in the last times

morning comes

shines upon a bit of a spot

on not far away

where sunlight falls bright

something happened

a-great day one bright morning

above and below

above and below

i'm alive, all's well, Springs up

flapping away

oh, ope' the curtain

and lets in

the day leaps up the shade

to the window

uncovers my soul

and how i know that sorrow

that deep dark shadow

and the sun

will it ever

show up at the bottom

of the sky

i wanna-wise feel alive

and know it

in tender time of love

it shows it

and when it is without any

sun time of sunshine

came out

casts off the shadow

on the moving clouds

casts off the cause

of my sorrow

above and below

above and below

i'm alive

i let it out

i let it go

i don't know

so exciting 'though

nevermind
