WINTER MOUNTAIN

March usually means the beginning of spring to me, but not this one.

Trees like silver straw

Stiffly mark a row;

Rocks of flint and fire

Soften in the snow;

 

Ebon crystal sky,

Cracking from the cold;

Moonlight drops in thin

Rays of frozen gold.

I do not experience this either, since I live in a hot climate and never see snow or mountains.

I know the spring season starts later in March, but in Texas March usually eans spring, Not this year, though.

Reading this lovely but starkly chilly poem is a lot like running your teeth across the icy remains on the wooden stick of a delicious, almost finished popsicle.
