Willful Experiment

Willful Experiment

A Story by Rogie-Dodge
"

Who is it? Who is me? Who is in charge?

"
I sit down and let myself feel comfortable.
Relax.  Breathe.
I know this isn't going to hurt, it's just the frustration getting to me. This should be so easy.
OK.  Let the experiment begin.
My arm is resting on the table.
"Up!", I say in my mind.
My arm is resting on the table.
"Arm! Rise!," I command of my body.  Who is the boss here?
My arm is resting on the table.
"Lift up, arm!", I think with all my conviction. Screaming the orders in my mind.
My arm is resting on the table.
S**t.  Nothing.  I am what I think.  The voice in my head, that is me.  Isn't it?  That's what it tells me.  It talks about me and says "I" when it does.  Why would I lie to myself?  I'm supposed to be in control here, and yet
My arm is resting on the table.
My face itches,
So I lift my arm to scratch it.
Damn!  Now I'll need to start again.

Author's Note

Rogie-Dodge
Yeah, I know I'm getting a bit philosophical here. And there is other stuff going on, but this is where my asperger's obsessing is taking me. I'll probably go back to poems of loss and love, or cheeseburgers, again later :D :D

Greetings Rogie.

Interesting, it seems we hit upon the same thought through our own means - at least we can hope so. I recommend reading my works entitled "One thing to avoid - mirrors", for I have ultimately the same idea buried within there - only used as an experiment in reply to an analogy, the latter an explication upon the expansion of an idiom respectively. Interesting indeed, isn't it?

Thank you for this piece; it's great to see thoughts similar to own in a different structure, of which can be greater understood by the majority I think.
