Oviedo

I held you, naked as untouched snow

Safer than love’s silence in winter breath,

Slow silence, concealed as flesh to flesh

Lain in life’s bare bed; Soft as Sinatra

Blue you pressed into barren polished sea

To see, be, silent at last, to be lost

In secluded sunless lull, pressed solely

To share sight with my wearied shut eyes;

 

Fallen in trodden tarmac wilderness

With sad stories stooped with silent scars

Fail-tended, unhealed, tethered to death,

Common as Oviedo; Laced with dry Iris

Plaster words push through to end the rest,

Safer than love’s silence in winter breath.

I'm not happy with the end but this one wore on me, wore on me.

Dude, you're a friggin Rembrandt with words! This is beautiful. I love the end....I can see maybe one more stray line at the end...but it would have to be mindblowingly profound. This is good stuff. I am a fan.
