Ensemble Suavis

Ensemble Suavis withe Music composer Alienbaba on stage after the 'Doricaha Lharari' re-arranged composition performance as Encore at Goa concert.

"

nsemble Suavis " Stars from the movies

(Dedicated to Amanda, Julia and Florence)……………………Roque Lazarus

Prologue: I see a girl at the Bungalow

playin` Guitar with ease

And the next Sokkalim (mornin’), two more at the office

  Smiling faces greet me

As I step and push the door

“If you’d like to be shown around

I don’t mind being your shadow..”

Welcome to my land, welcome Ensemble Suavis

May I comprehend; are you the stars from the movies?

Flute, Oboe and Guitar, you've come from quite far

To lend a helping hand to our music pupils maybe?

Wrote a song for you, in the early morning hours

Caught a tune brand new, must’ve come from planet Mars

Called it ‘Sokkallim’, it kept on haunting me

I haunted it too; guess I missed a few bars.

Gave it to the three at the ‘Palace by the sea’

They played it sweet and slow, my face radiated aglow

A glow of happiness, a new universal oneness

How it comforted me and gently encouraged me!

Might play it at the Monte, that’s what I’d been told

Can’t go to see them there, though I hope they strike gold

Their music in my brain, there I hear it again

A pleasurable pain; an out-of-season rain.

Rehearsals at Kala, lunch at ‘Marriot’

I can’t escort you there cause six pounds’ all I've got

Maybe we could dine, if you think that will be fine

At a modest pub at nine and the pleasure would be mine.

Wine is bad for health and smoke does one no good

Forget fish and meat and eggs, I’ll treat you to veg-food

Then sip some steaming coffee to stir your blues away

I’ll sing you a lovely song, please tell me if I may?

They've come from Trinity, with a vision in their mind

They’re gonna rock our city with a classical unwind

The white Bogmallo sands, bear the imprint of their feet

While the seaside shack prepares a lovely meal to eat.

Well, Julia plays Oboe, she handles it quite well

Seventeen years of super practice, she’s brilliant, I can tell

She plays an ethereal solo with a range from Heaven to Hell

Come on Julia! Encore Julia " at the concert I will yell!!!

And Florence " she’s a Belle, strums guitar with flair

Her Tangos and Flamencos are a breath of fresh air

I have also seen her teach, and teach she does with care

Patient tuition awaiting fruition, ever willing to share.

“You must be a magician!”, Amanda says to me

I wonder what she means, while we are having tea

“I mean the way you write, all in a single night”

“ - That’s my magic art with which I've touched your heart!”.

Then we walk the ramp, off the serene Mandovi river

Julia’s got a headache and I hope she doesn't catch a fever

Won’t you sit a while, no Florence is getting late

Departing in sweet sorrow, my words can hardly wait.

We walk down to the car, it isn't parked too far

“I’ll miss your girls I say” " “Then come with us to the U.K”

They move on while I stay and a silent prayer I pray

By the powers that might be " please keep them happy all day.

And by the way you three, the pink n black suits you fine,

Flute on your lips, light fingertips Amanda's eyes they seem to shine

The Strums that you strum Florence , resound in me line after line,

And Julia and her Oboe, oh..these are awesome girls, a trio divine!

Tomorrow is the grand day I know you’ll do your best

Whatever people may say, do face the acid test

There may be slight feed-back and that’s a sonic danger

But looking over you from the sound room,

I’ll be your guardian angel

And now it seems to me there’s nothing much to say

Your pre-programmed destiny will lead you the other way

And remember all you three, if say these words I may

With you all beside me I felt so happy today.

Goa is a land, where stories never end

They go on round and round, like this tell-tale wedding band

If you really like my poem, you`ve got lots more left to see

And thanks for metamorphosing a happier-peppier me.

Epilogue:

Had a show that day but scrapped it for your sake

I tried to reach there girls with my bike without a brake

Sometimes I think I’m single and forget that I’m married

No wonder that the poor wife gets very very worried.

I must make a mention of the Monte concert episode

Unforeseen tension on the God-forsaken road

My bike has to break down on the outskirts of the city

In a river of flowing humans but a desert of humanity.

I finally reached the Monte, running walking breathless

Imagine my surprise. at being shoo-ed out; I was pass-less

Hid in the bell-tower, high above you all

Breathed a dusty shower, half-scared I might fall.

The bats up there and I heard your soulful melody

On the other side I saw a smiling `Our Lady`

And then the memorable encore, I ran down to your side

Not used to being stared-at, I wished I could just hide.

And now that you are leaving and we may never meet

I'd love to see you again, your three faces so sweet

Your hearts flowed in the adlib. keep it that way OKAY?

And maybe one fine SOKKALIM, you will remember ROCKY!!

I have heard Ensemble Suavis rehearse and perform at 3 concerts. They are musicians of a very high professional level and possessing great sensitivity for the spirit of the music they perform.
Seamless integration of multi-timbral harmonious parts is a breeze with this Trio ..weaving in and out and meandering around in the background while a solo takes the fore-front only to exchange roles within no time. One is held spellbound by the bond of affection they create in the Ether while an audience is held in rapture. Florence Nisbet on Classical Guitar, Julia White on Oboe and Amanda Moore on Flute. Ensemble Suavis...where you come face to face ...with your own soul!
