The Prominence

The Prominence

A Poem by Rorke Hardy

The veins in my hand strain

Against my skin pushing out

They reveal the lines, the pressure

Much as lines of a house, its foundation

They show my life

Reveal the movement of my body

My body is bursting but containing

Breaking yet bending

On the verge of explosion but collapsing

And from this violence of the push and pull

I live

I am a miracle everyday

But unseen
