Old and lonely

Old and lonely

A Poem by rosemary keogh

I am 90 years of age.

I am old but I’m still here.

I’ve lived and worked so hard.

My memories not so good.

My legs are weak and frail.

Arms they are not so strong,

But they help me push myself upon,

my frame so I can walk.

My children they dont help.

There busy this I know.

That’s why they seldom call.

I’m feeling so alone.

My husband passed away.

His heart was not so strong.

I miss him every day, I wonder

were it all went wrong. I’m frightened

and so nerves in this empty house alone.

I pray to god to help to help me trough

every day that I’m alone.

A sad poem. My Grandmother passed away at 95 year old in 2004. We (The family) would visit two day a week each to insure she had food and company. It would be hell to be alone after a lifetime of giving. We can learn from this poem. We give back that was given to us without regret. I remembered my mother complaining about the visits. I told her "One day when Grandma is gone. You will regret these words." Thank you for the amazing thought provoking poem.

You've painted a very sad image with this poem. Nicely done.
