this week

today i feel strong

this week

has been a really f*****g terrible week

the only difference was 

unlike all the terrible weeks before it 

i broke my fingernails off clawing out of it 

success is measured by every day i get through

where i don’t think about how good it was

back in the old days where when things went south

i had to take all of the painkillers out of my room

because they were all i wanted to taste when i forgot how to breathe

six months ago

i wrote poetry about how i am charted, mapped, depicted

framed amongst the backdrop of twenty years of failure

but that failure seems to have just been bedrock 

foundations to keep the building strong
