Systematic Symptoms

Systematic Symptoms

A Poem by R Townsend
"

I was motivated to write this after hearing about several stories about teen suicide. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Things get better, Reach out.

"

I see you laying there

Blood dripping fresh

The systematic symptoms

Imprinted in flesh

I call out to you

People start to stare

It’s sad it came to this

For people to care.

I hear the sirens wailing,

Your body runs cold

You’ve taken your own life

Before mine unfolds

I place blame on me

What could I do?

You needed my protection

I failed to come through.

I am now laying

Alone and afraid

My pain goes away

With every twist of the blade.

I need right now

More than ever before

But you threw that away

When I found you on the floor

[CHORUS] ~Slower, Song Like~

This is the life that I live

Its like a boat adrift

Potential. Wasted. On. Memories…..

I am reaching out, Help me please.

[/CHORUS] ~Slower, Song Like~

You see me laying there

Blood dripping fresh

The systematic symptoms

Imprinted in flesh.

This story sounds familiar

Just like the one told

Abuse needs to stop

So love can enfold

Someone needs me

I watch and I wait

I see their pain leading

To their ultimate fate

We have to break the cycle

We have to be clear

Love, Support and kindness

Can overcome fear

Together we are strong

We must reach out

People need us

As they fill with doubt

[CHORUS] ~Slower, Song Like~

This is the life that I live

Its like a boat adrift

Potential. Wasted. On. Memories…..

I am reaching out, Help me please.

[/CHORUS] ~Slower, Song Like~

This is a rap/song I was working on. I decided to go outside a standard poem and try something a little different. Looking for feed back.
