Vanishing Into Life

Vanishing Into Life

A Poem by rubie

Wondering at the mystery

And finding ourselves enthralled

Delving beneath the surface

For the chance to learn a secret

Choosing the path of intention

With integrity and purpose

Remaining honest with ourselves

And opting for true living, always

Honoring the path of knowing

With focused thought and effort

Seeking out profound wisdom

In the innocence of children

Staying present in the moment

And opening the doors of perception

Reaching out with intimacy

And inviting another into your heart

Leaving a footprint in someone’s life

And loving for the sheer joy of it

Creating the delicate balance

And taking your place in the one seat

Seeing wonder in everyday things

And delighting in what you have

Doing all this with awareness

And dancing to your own tune

Makes the journey worth the ride

at the funeral I attended yesterday morning, the preacher said some interesting things about
love and how the growing up process is just the primitive word for it; that learning and dying
was one in the same. On the way to the cemetery I thought about his words about the journey (knowledge)
being the final place to go for ultimate comfort. But you can only be a snob about people and
objectivity. Staying present in the moment and being true to our dying selves is the
truest Ayurveda for an alternative life. Poetry is this alternative.

Jacob, who I respect with all my heart, invited me to come visit you. And I've been smiling all
morning....Great poem.

What a beautiful image: 'vanishing into life' and somewhat sad that it has to vanish. Perhaps life is to be lived like true charity: we do not need recognition for giving of ourselves. I spend most of my time doing what you have written in this piece, especially 'dance to my own tunes' (though I am not sure what the neighbours think when I grab the dog). This is such an inspiring piece, Rubie; thanks for sharing!

all those mysteries we have growing up----they vanish into life...like the questions we have...they too vanish into life....the reality is the journey and the dance is ours to do with our own steps.
