The Driving Snow

The Driving Snow

by Matt Byrum

In the winter I hated this land
With each step
The driving snow would force me
Down the mountain I had climbed
Now The snow falls once more
Falling, flying, flitting
On the warm breeze
The trees are no longer bare
As petals rain from heaven
And I find myself in love once more
Until I return to the valley
where the sun has not returned
And cut my foot
In time life will return to my place
But all too late
And I shall have to trek once more
To find the spring

But why ruin the sound of bells
High upon the peak
It is the moment I am there that I live for
And though my heart aches for home
I know life here shall blossom
And rain upon all who walk in that deluge
