Butterfly Kisses

Butterfly Kisses

A Poem by Rusty

Her words light upon me

Like a butterfly

Light and airy the wings open and slowly fold again

And just when it seems that there is some connection between us

It lifts and flies

I cannot give chase

Though I would rather

But what would I do

I have no net

And surely my clumsy hands not gentle enough to catch her

Her path, the flight too erratic to predict

So I watch instead and ponder

Upon me those words-fleeting-off to draw nectars from another source

Another field

Am I better for it

The butterfly

A interruption of myself, my own thoughts and perceptions

I trod away from the quiet place where it touched me

Mine a trundle rather than a flight

Those words left upon me

Perhaps like dew they will evaporate in the light of day

And fade until the next butterfly lights upon me

Like words

. words as beautiful as these cannot fade ... IMHO ... butterflies do flutter by ... perhaps they're meant to make our hearts flutter ... just so we don't forget we have hearts ... maybe ... (you do infinite justice to the image and existence of the butterfly) ...
