i would tell you

-i would tell you that the moon is orange tonight and it shines brighter than the darkness in my mind, or that there are stars out tonight and that counting them reminds me that the universe is endless and we are so small. i would tell you that the light you see in the sky is not a street light, nor is it man made, nor is it made by chance, but you wouldn't believe me and we'd probably have tea and discuss our moral values, that is, if this world still has some. i would tell you that the tree you see here is actually a bush and that the placement of the camera was chosen because of my dream to be seen as more than just a girl. more than just someone who enjoys watching sunsets and staying up too late just to hear his voice. i would tell you that the sky is blue and sometimes pink, but you already knew that. just like you knew what 4 plus 4 is because thats simple math and let's face it, no one really got past that. i would tell you all these things just to prove a point about something. anything. but it may only influence a few people at most. this isnt a poem or even a love note. its just some words on a page that have probably been stuck in my head for awhile. which is probably why i havent been able to speak to her properly.
i would tell you that everything will be okay and that the world still goes round even on bad days. but that still wouldnt fix the problem, and id rather have you cry on my shoulder now than recite pretty words at your funeral. i would tell you that the sun still shines when you cry in the morning, but id rather hug your neck and sing you pretty songs to remind you that i still love you. i would tell you that this letter is over, but i may not send it to you, and you may never get to see me tomorrow.-
