A missed moment

A missed moment

A Poem by sarah

I watched him
From a distance
I wondered if he noticed
That I loved him

I watched her
From a distance
I wonder if she realized
That I loved her

I smiled up at him
But tried not to give to much away
I laughed at his jokes
But kept a safe distance away

I smiled down at her
But kept her at arms length
I sat next to her
But never looked directly at her

My heart pounded hard
And fast
Whenever he walked into a room

I couldn't help but smile
When she picked me out of a crowed room
And walked over just speak to me

So many times I tried
To tell him
To explain to him
That I loved him

I tried so hard
To tell her
To get her to understand
That I loved her

But when I got the courage
To tell him
He was already with someone else

When I finally felt ready
To tell her
She had already moved on to someone else

I missed my chance with him...

I missed my chance with her...

We missed our moment
But sometimes I catch
Him watching me

We missed our chance
But sometimes I see her
Smiling at me

She will always hold my heart

And he will always hold mine....

Sorry if this is confusing, it is kind of a new style. Something I think about is that I will miss my moment with the guy i'm meant to be with. So I wrote this :-)

Love is rough, isn't it? Sometimes I just want to give up on it, throw in the towel because the pain isn't worth it. But, it is worth it, I suppose.

I've missed moments before, and now I look back and regret being so quiet and simply smiling. But, what happens is for a reason. Whatever moment we gave up just gave us a chance at a new one.

But, I like this poem, as well as it's style. Good job :)

Well penned, Sarah! Your work gets better with each poem. You have an innate understanding of just the emotions to touch for your work to appeal to a wide range of readers. Absolutely the only criticism is probably a typing error. In verse six, you left a "d" out of crowded.

This is absolutely perfect. The parallel discourse , the chronological sequence of events, your beautiful way with words- I just love it! Well done! ...so tragic, yet hopeful:)

great song you have been inspired by, and this was a great poem as well. this was really sad work, haven't we've all been there, when we've had someone we really like right in front of us, and then we let it all just slip away? very well-written poem here. nice job!

Great Poem! Ah to ponder too long and miss our chance seems to be the story for too many. We get caught up in our minds and hearts with self talk worried that we will not measure up and when we decide to go with our gut feeling after much debate it is usually too late. Well Done!
P.S. my common law wife of thirteen years (wow it's been that long) can't get enough of Bruno Mars!
