Chains

Chains

A Poem by Sami Khalil

Weighty indeed...

Chains                                 by Sami Khalil

Because of you,

the sun went missing.

I lost my halo, my ambrosia.

Words were suspended

inside a dried-up throat.

Fire ants marched on…

I could not break

the chains with sheer willpower.

You whisked me away!

Whirlwind romance, a hint of shadows, fear, desire,. Thoughts fly like scattered starlings. Well done. Those first impressions are overwhelming.

Wow! I'm so glad you can relate dear poet-brother. Thank you so much for sharing.
very different style for you. quite a power punch you deliver. not a good thing to be shackled with anything in this life. your opening reached out and grabbed me by the collar, not letting go. not always by our own power, sometimes we need help. could hear those chains clinking and flying off whilst visualizing the dragged ball and chain. very good one in my humble opinion. much to like and feel in a compact but strong package ... :)
