Consolation Prizes   by Sami Khalil

Weaknesses can be strengths…

Weaknesses have their nuisances. Although they be frustrating, it is rightly reserved to blow off steam regardless.

Not everyone is born a winner, with great capacities, with Midas touches. I’m one of those souls.

I have to try harder, go further, dig deeper to find those balanced dilemmas. As you all know, life can throw significant hardships on us; inane ones other times.

As I see it, we are all slight variations of the ones who came before us, with boundless dreams and lost hopes. For dreams can course through lush meadows, while hopes can dwindle in sandy deserts.

To be honest, I hide my weaknesses (like most people do) because they can be haunting, accidental on life’s tracks to somewhere or nowhere.

I say, give me the reasons to live, love, achieve and I will give you the wills to hold on, to grasp and win all homeless thoughts.

Never have we felt our losses until the hours of parting, of death, of those silent ahoys, triggering no echoes, no responses, no remorse.

It is a strange world indeed we all live in; some are wayward travelers, some are memories-ridden passer byes, while many others are merely sacksful of unfulfilled children’s dreams, appeased by consolation prizes.

We are all endowed with a bifurcated question:

To win or not to lose; to be forlorn or to be ecstatic.

Has it dawned on you: to live is to learn.

Hello Sami. I enjoyed your words and your thoughts.

The above lines. We must learn or know madness. We must decide what we need and want. Our decision. Thank you my friend for sharing the excellent poetry.

Yes siiiirrrr. Peace, love and harmony.
To live is to learn. Very powerful message there Sami, and there is much to learn on our journey through life. To recognise our own weaknesses and overcome them is certainly admirable in my book. Have a good weekend Sami.
