Hold Your Scorn     by Sami Khalil

An English sonnet…

Hold your scorn as the pendulum does move

Back still and forth, cursing the day you’re born

Life births merry wins and losses ‘twixt groove

So, jump for joy or be sour grapes torn.

Clench your mighty fist when quizzically

Conveying ‘Hammer Blows’ row after row

Chains that rattle and so oft fittingly

Fact or fiction aloft heads filled with woe.

I’m bound to say, we must “Pay the Piper”

To retort when asked to pay faced dues

Who awaits Spring must spiel not a griper

With love and grace, walking in others’ shoes.

Hold your scorn oft as a sobering thought

The sum of efforts adds values to naught.

When life deals you lemons, make lemonade so to speak.
Turn ugly situations into lessons or good things.
