You

You

A Poem by Sami

When you talk, I imagine
The hook end of a wire
Clothes hanger piercing
The tender skin behind my knees.
The blunt metal pushing until
My skin absorbs it, suddenly.
In the root ball of my body
You are there, pressing thumbs
On either side of an important
Valve. My tongue is raw
With you. Some distant god
Counts my patience like pennies
Only to be disappointed at the sum.
Your stilted voice charms them
Out of their chairs, while I
Remain seated, for the pain
Behind my knees.

This is a review that Lauren posted: "You are also very talented Sami :D I really enjoyed this poem, even if its in paragraph form. That first line where you describe the hanger peircing your skin makes a strong statement. I read it twice just to let it sink in.
The only thing I have to say about it is that I dont quite get the part about the god counting pennies. But then again poetry is not exactly my strong point so my review is not exactly helpful, but even if Poetry is not my strong point I definatly liked this poem and I liked the fact that your topic was not something that I have read a million times. It is definatly an original idea which makes it all the better :D"
Didn't want to lose it when I deleted the one without line breaks.

Reminds me of abortion. Pretty, beautiful abortion, but abortion nonetheless. "hook end of a wire/ clothes hanger piercing"...

Should be read aloud to hear pacing; lack of consistent punctuation (purposeful, I know) makes me want to rush.
