Waiting still

Waiting still

A Poem by Sammypookins

Holdfast, hold on,
You said to me.
I won’t be long,
I’ll be back soon.
Just wait for me and keep the faith.
Remember me,
This kiss,
This place.

Your lips make promises to mine,
They bind us here,
Our souls entwined.
Each breath,
A beat a step in time.

Another moment far apart,
Ingrained upon this fractured heart.
In sepia tones my memories fade.
Love once so bright,
Lost now to shade.

I remembered you,
I kept the faith.
I’m waiting still in this cold place.

I cannot imagine what that wait is like, I have been separated from my love and that was 4 weeks of such pain.........but I knew he would be back alive, and you have captured that emotion so desperate of longing, missing someone, and keeping the hope alive.
Wonderful piece.

I can only imagine how many military families feel this way...I think many of them could easily relate to this .
Well done,
Sandra :D

Sad, to lie in wait for a promise or a vow that has been broken somehow.

A poignant reminder that lovers lie.
