Homesick

Homesick

A Poem by LoneStranger

Her stomach tightened

as she surveyed the room

where she had spent the past

fifteen years of her life

in a state of bliss

filled youthful ignorance of the world

beyond her self-imposed prison

painted a calming shade of blue.

Her stomach tightened

in fear of nothing

ever being the same

as it once had

been when laughter was easy

to come by and pain was small

shadows in the porch lamplight

waving hello in the summer night

breeze to welcome her home.
