Night Sky

Night Sky

A Poem by Sean Betts
"

This piece of writing is poem arranged into song lyrics. My inspiration for these lyrics came from the time when I was living in a rough neighborhood in the city, walking around at night.

"
When darkness falls
the universe begins to stall
and everybody crawls out
to enjoy the brawl
not the external kind
but of the internal eternal
struggle between the villainous
and the heroic where no zeros
can comprehend this burden
of the mind where everyone
thinks you're Tyler Durden but in reality
the quest in your life is inner
peace and resolution to all
of life's mysteries

The Stars shine bright tonight
illuminating my soul they take me
to new heights and now I'll
never come back

Now for a brief pause
and take a moment to consider
all of the possibilities this young
mind can achieve under duress
this distress beacon
for the weak and downtrodden
will never reach my good half
for the villain in me
is the hero we deserved
but never needed
condemnation is my salvation
progress is my stagnation
the paths of life
are all illusions
in our minds

The stars shine bright tonight
illuminating my soul they take
me to new heights and now I'll never come back

One. Two. Three. Four.
the clock strikes 12 and
a new day has begun
Five. Six. Seven. Eight.
it's time to bring out the blades
Nine. Ten. Eleven. Twelve.
No time to dwell on the past

The stars shine bright tonight
illuminating my soul they
me to new heights and now I'll
never come back
