Chains and Angels

Chains and Angels

A Poem by Snowbound Traveler
"

A thought on leaving the past behind through a leap of faith

"

Chains and Angels

We twist and turn, in a mad waltz to pull free

From the self-built chains that tie us to our pasts

They pull and tug and wrap around our spirits

Ripping, tearing and gouging, trying to drag us back

into the murky gloom of expired days

But as we struggle to cut the chains and break free

The cold fear of the future unknown, weakens our hands

loosens our grip and keeps us wrapped in our chains

All that can free us is

A leap of faith,

to know our fear but not be ruled by it

Only then will the chains of the past shatter

And let us reach the light that is at the end of our fingertips

And become one with the angels
