Boddah

A Poem by Andy Scotson
"

another tribute to Nirvana particularily to the unplugged album

"

Boddah

Withdrawal hurts,
long, lank, greasy hair
hard bitten fingers and chewed cigarettes
half shaven, thin cheeked,
the boy in spotlit focus, dirty jeans
and a scruffy cardigan.

The smile as it dawns is forced and false,
blue eyes reflect summer skies
wide horizons and are forever real.
He plucks certain phrases,
emphasises particular words
with a poet or an addicts poise.

Grohl is dismissed and stalks off
"Penny royal tea" is played soft and solo.
Eyes now shut, head slightly down,
he is alone and lost.

The surround is a gaudy funeral parlour
scented by lilies and lit by black candles.
His acoustic guitar chooses Leadbelly
"Where did you sleep last night"
as Kurt chooses to burn out
never to fade away.
