A moment to Mourn

A moment to Mourn

A Poem by Kana Renee
"

This was written on New years Eve exactly 1 year after my dad lost his battle to Leukemia. The beginning isn't part of the poem--more of a simple written thought.

"

Flickering flames on walls

Empty from bearing the soul

I know not where to go now

Not even, where to begin.

I close my eyes

Still you haunt me

Through my eyelids

You steal my thoughts

Carrying on with everyday life

Is a battle I’ve already lost.

Leave me alone, I love you

But leave me to be to mourn

This life here on earth and in heaven

Leaves a life left to be torn.

The raw emotion in this is what gives it life. It's a tear jerker. This right here in particular stung me.

"Carrying on with everyday life

But leave me to be to mourn"

I don't really know what else to say. It's beautiful, in broken-hearted, hopelessly lost sort of way. My own experience is slightly different, but the stagnant drain of life, and the inability to function is the same. I can certainly feel that connection when I read this. Theraputic poetry is often very good because it reaches out to the reader on such a human level. I appreciate your endurance, and your courage to share when it is so raw.
