Where Love Should Be

Where Love Should Be

A Poem by Michael G. Smith
"

A man in reflection before his wife's grave

"
A coldness of tombstone granite
With words loss, savor and such
What lies below or hides behind
Is that which defines
An emptiness of warmth and life
Of where love should be

The reflection in this piece is many layered for in the polished reflection of the headstone the man sees only himself where he used to see two inseparable people.
You have penned a very moving poem Rita.

With death of our loved ones, its a part of us which dies. While reading this soulful work you made everyone remember the ones we lost. Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece.

It how we love that does define us and love it does not die. Thank you for this, Mike.

it's the emptiness, it is the empty doorway...

the place setting opposite on the table missing...it's the gap left in a life that was full.

loss so eloquently portrayed in this poem.

Yes, it is the emptiness that takes over... wonderful, succinct and full of impact. Well penned, M. G.
