Butterfly Crush

Butterfly Crush

A Poem by Michael G. Smith
"

Butterfly dust effects

"

Butterfly crush, still you lie

As the velvet night plush

One star fallen; absent

As I wonder "who am I"

I try to fathom

Into nether world patterns

Winged stories spiraled open

Of flights in an afterlife

Inhaling what's left

Of spirit's white dust lavender

Lingering on into martyrdom

From winds and breaths before and beyond

In finality, I am your victim forever

To the atmosphere as it is written

Of your butterfly crush death beauty

As a wish blown poem

Ethereal tone--"From winds and breaths before and beyond." Great line. Describes the destruction of beauty that haunts the destroyer. Powerful.
