The Baker And The Bread~

The Baker And The Bread~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole
"

~a dreaming Manhattan dawn~

"

This girl

a  slight lavender  presence

whisper of a cashmere scarf

around a long fluted neck

cocoa shadow in line with her cat eyes

confectionaries’ sugar on her glossed lips

plump little pout a sorbet crisp

each morning

this chiffon girl

with long fingers playing the little bell above the door

brushed her wasp waisted presence

through

from her world into his

and painted his unassuming sphere

with hip huggers

little black leather jacket

the  skin in brief crescent

between her waist

and the hollow of the spine

offering hint of tattoo wings in violet and black

her pupils slowly contracting

on another night spent in naked ardor

Dawn became a pleasure for the baker

a sweet sabayon

his hands a sweep to Dino filling the old bakery with That’s Amore

glazing biscuit tops with butter

her smile

her laugh

strong white teeth biting deep into his devotion

baked into a sweet roll

dusted with powdered sugar

What a quiet man

what an unassuming man

white baker's apron hair dusted with flour

she wondered sometimes

would he smile

if she were to reach across the counter

and draw a heart  in the flour on his cheek

but she just showed him dimples

the clock in gold

blinking 4am;

she was always the first

and he always had ready

a particular sweet to feed her

with her coffee

In this world

he is the Baker

in this world

she is the Bread

a quiet moment

a girl with marzipan smile

and  a man wonders what taste the jelly would take

were he to lean across the counter

to kiss it from the corner of her mouth

and every day he wipes the notion from his brow

with her little girl smile over a woman shoulder

the bell above the door ringing

the choux paste giving itself over to his expert hands

waiting to be made into eclairs

the moment visits us again...the dimensions have shifted a little, and the confections are words of interesting flavors, and shared in the early morning from across this counter...really, except for all those wisdom stretch marks, you haven't changed a bit...

Just love this........

I wrote a poem once about a woman making bread. There is something so incredibly sensuous about the working of the hands.

Ah Dino...i was won from the beginning...but any mention of Dean Martin ignites a mental cavalcade chronological roll call from both the soundtrack and myriad other memories from go to woah over the entirety of existence...predawn bakeries are one of the best most fresh and crisp experiences on the culinary calendar...and while the aesthetic descriptions and sensual curves wrapped around my mind's own "naked ardor"...it was the evocations of personal senses in memory that overwhelmed my natural disposition toward the salacious literary salivation...and all the can say in conclusion is that yes...i'm certain he would be positvely impressed with a heart in even the most sour dough...and this sweet kiss would be the icing on his cake...very sweet write :)

Remember this well... since I'm a proud owner of the book (hint to others)... you have a way with taking an otherwise routine experience and polishing it with your poetics until it shines like a jewel... ever lovely...
