Spider Web~

Spider Web~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

I used to rescue moths

from spider webs

dust them off

pink kiss

imprint

on

paper wings

spreading

through open shutters

I used to rescue spiders

from toads on lily pads

smooth their bellies

fingerprint

on eight legs

skittering

under a log

I used to rescue toads

from cat

moist tongue

flick

my palm inching love line

to the wrist

smiling

after jumps through green water

I used to rescue cat

from boys

stones in mid air crumbling

blue eyes inky with horizontal pupils

silk purr impressions

rubbing fur under my chin

boys in flight

screaming

witch!

I did not rescue boys

they would one day be men

like all men

but

I still rescue moths

from spider webs . . . .

This is uniquely beautiful, like the woman who wrote it. I especially love the dominoes falling in full circle, and how she differentiates between the innocence of youth and the responsibility of maturity with boys and men, and how she removed gender from the broken, with metaphors of moths, spiders, toads, and cats, all the while leaving the gray hue around the fact that the broken can be male or female, and she doesn't even notice this difference, she just mends without thought, with the essence of the compassion that is her soul. The gender is only noticed in the whole beings, the boys and the men, who drive forward the need for our compassion, her compassion, to surface. Nobody removes the self and sketches unity better than Selene Skye. She is a sun along my path, and along the path of so many. And she'd be the first to point out to anyone who noticed, that she's just another point of light, in a collective sky of bright lights. That's one of the things that makes her voice so precious...

I haven't read anything quite like this before, and it warmed my heart. And it made me realize that difference between things we can save and others we can not...and yet we hurt, wishing those things that we cannot save, won't hurt us...
Great job...

I loved the series of sensual images of moths and frogs... and then the twist to the boys that cannot be saved... lol

An exciting read, on line leading to the next with fluid transition. Not cryptic at all, which makes it enjoyable.

This is the sad tale of what's to come in life.
It's like that one story of how the woman ate the fly, the spider, etc.
But with a more meaningful twist.
I love this very much.
