Venus Wept White Roses~

Venus Wept White Roses~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

Maiden in her blush

on knees in blossoms crushed

her cheek against a frame

embossed with silver rain

A hero dressed in white

ribbed tight the epic kite

he tossed it with a wish

a welling love through the abyss

Her auburn hair a veil

she pushed her palm against the gale

fell crossed and through and sideways

a girl reposed in bride days

He unbuckled every clasp

and idea in his grasp

he took the bullet from her palm

gave it meaning, fetish charmed

And the vase with water deep through body

pushed the blossoms through their folly

as he lay in splatters of white rose

Venus weeping him through prose

And epic is as epic does

a goddess through the world amok

ripping blossoms off a bloom

curled around her empty womb

asking

love me

love me not

laughter

maddening

silver shot

white roses pressed against her eyes

god blood painted down her thighs

an arch

a bow

a hunter’s rush

a tapestry unwound, restrung

let’s make it bleed

let’s make it scream

let’s rewrite every epic scene

until every rose has found her song

and the hero relearns right and wrong

a curtsy

bow

bouquet dispersed

Venus pours it in reverse

your versatlity....rhyming couplets...a perfect parade...dressed in all its creator's best finery...strong symbolism here...i have a clear idea...but wont discuss it dear...for all parts fit the (w)hole and veils reveal more mystery once they drop away...i pick them up...and put them in a heart shaped box as keepsakes...

Selene has once again captured the heart through her perspective. What a lovely tale, femine, sexual and delightful just as the poetess herself

Every line tastes sensual, alluring, pulling us into,
pouring into our secret places. I love the ending line:
Venus pours it in reverse...and we are wind into your
verses...a tasteful tease...:)

tearing myself from the mast (again), now swimming in these depths, i find her mer-and-merry-made, she calls my ancient name

truly in reverse ..Romeo and Juliet by silver bullet she did carress and take his life and smeered his blood on her highs.. ..to make the blooms once more bloom victorious

I never read this one. I adore it. The heart of the poem, in my opinion, is here:

a goddess through the world amok

ripping blossoms off a bloom

curled around her empty womb

asking

love me

love me not

laughter

maddening

silver shot

This really does remind me of Robert Brownings work, in terms of the the sexual tention that lies beneath each line. I really enjoyed the juxtaposition of Venus' association with fertility and beauty, an innocense if you will and the degredation she suffers to the second protagonist in the poem, the male.

The form this poem takes really helps it i'd say, particularly the ending and its 2/3 words each line. Its inconsistency exclaims the inconsistency of her thoughts and her maddening. Thanks for the read and another job very well done.

Hello Selene,

I also had to reread and then look over a couple of reviews. I didnt get that the other reviewers was getting. I mostly think that it's due to the rush of this morning, but I am seeing something much more tramatic, something sad and lost.

I feel as if she is craving something, desiring something....I may go as far as obsessing over something. A confusing world for a confused woman...

Then again....I could just be confused...and obsessed...*winks*

Always,

Matthew

What a dance of ideas. A waltz of him and her. Hero and heroin with a modicum of mythos thrown in for spice. I have visions of Venus running amok through the world yelling he loves me... He lives me not. But humans use flowers and petals. The gods, the gods use humans...
He loves me
he loves me not
I just hope she figures out her answer before the bloom is empty.

I know, I went on a bit of a tangent there, but I am a bit of an oblique person and that is one of the qualities of your work. To inspire further thoughts. Something we all aspire to.

The things that come out of your head... How is it possible that you can maintain all these readers' attentions for so long? How? It's because of the awesomeness of your work. I have to reread because I still get confused by it, but I very much enjoy the fact, and very much enjoy the work, as always. You've put us to shame yet again. Good form, Selene.
