Melody And Swing~

Melody And Swing~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

Feathers split

crawling a body's song

servitude

glorious mood

I lost your notes to science

scions

awkward through my brew

insubstantial

I try to repair you with a soprano's  antique rhetoric

across piano keys

feeding you on language

kneeling in a pool of oil

while my wrists tremble

against silver clasps

His money burned a dream

through a solitary canvas

the messiah ambling through Paris

on a beam of innate sweetness

sugar cubed

dismantled

in a cup of steaming liquid

that sears his lips

blurred

inside a pastel stroke of a boar hair brush

The moon tarried

on the pearl hem of my wedding gown

bending fear

into the deep purr of guitar strings

pressing hearts between the folds of an invitation

soaking in a basin

of melodious poison

and tea leaves

He thought it was all a secret shadow

under the man's fedora

hidden oil eyes

a world baritone

carefully bumping the fine nerves

sheathed beneath paper thin skin

I lower my eyes

into the shade of his disguise

surrendering

my feather fan

to beat back the firefly night

etched against the sky

I redeem myself in the waltz

he moves my delicate momentum

with a sip of berry cognac

across a moonlit era

swinging out

to big band

smoky

nightclubs

my plumes lavender and white

he cries his old bones

away

with the vibrant melody of my lies

Companionship

happens

in the ache of a melody

in the steps of a foxtrot

clarinets spread gold dust across a window sill

he pulls back the curtains on the rain

on the ensemble of memories

I turn out of my heels

fine bones

like powder

in my footsteps

he dips me in ash shavings against the fireplace

pushes down into a memory

before wheelchairs

and a line of pain medications

falling back into a red rose between my teeth

he dips me

the tango coloring the garden

bursting through the archways of winter light

into blossoms

dying

to be reborn

The melody crescendos

the band

ghosts

on

Even the strongest of strong may have to bend to illness and age. I have always known I will not grow as old as some, but I am just too damn ornery to go down without a hell of a fight. But, I know there is also honor in bowing a head to known defeat. Thank the gods we all shall be well a & full of P & V on the other side of this. Life's dance... not sure weather it was all worth it; but positive it was a lesson/lesson(s) I had to learn for myself to appreciate the good stuff.

This was a pleasure to read. It was a journey. It was a lesson. It was a warning. It was a story. I loved it. There were so many parts to it, I felt spoiled for a moment as if being indulged. Lovely!

Stunning way of portraying the life cycle and its ups and downs...melancholy without being depressing...with the waltz, creating such a graceful picture that one cannot mind the ending...simply lovely

Dancing, each step in life, through to old age and death...........loss of agility, limbs and always the intensity inside the mind of desire, never fades.........the movement in each line dances, beautifully as all your poems.
