Girl Off The Loom~Girl Born Of Clay

Girl Off The Loom~Girl Born Of Clay

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

I would hang my skin on a line

if the world would take a moment to listen to the sound

of creation on the wind

as it caresses the pleats of a young woman hanging by a thread

perhaps even bend out of ideals into possibilities

to rescue a torn dove

from the woodsman’s axe ready to chop the braided cord

from the apple tree

because hope is like a bridge between my shell

and the pulp of a leaf between the fingertips of a boy

shall he pluck it and make an arrow

or plant it between the ribs of a broken sun

as moon opens a blue eye

and the craters turn to ash tears

the bowl

in the palm of a weeping willow somewhere on the horizon

in gold reflection

I am just another painter in a blue robe

on a ledge

my balance between a seed

and an old clock with broken arms stuck on the arch of twelve diamonds

a red cross bone building my shoulders for a velvet kiss

for Dali’s fingertips drawing lips in ochre reds

down my spine

as I fold my everything into the keys of a piano floating

on a silver lake

where the Lady beckons from underneath the pebbles in the shallows

with a sword made of a dragon’s scales

Myth is sometimes as simple

as a girl hanging wash on a line

dreaming through the fabric

becoming pleats

under a sky made of words

where the book builds the world

Belief is a panoramic scene

with images flowing in ribbons of paint

between the fingers of a sculptor

and the girl brought forth from warm clay

ever...ever so beautiful Selene I am moved by the second to last stanza "...Sometimes a myth is as simple as a girl hanging wash on a line...." truly remarkable this gift you possess and I am always standing in awe of your genius ability to take words and use them in a way that is definately "outside the box" your ability to take a word and peel it...to break it open and eat of it as if it were a delicious fruit..to turn it upside down and inside out and pair them with other words in such clever and intensely beautiful descriptive patterns and plots is fascinating... and I am always reverent of your ability to take a normal cliche' and bust it wide open to scoop out the real meat...the real gem... the extraordinary pearl hidden in the ordinary mash -DannyLynne

YOU make people stop and think, seeing beyond themselves. You literally open a vein and show your scars to all that are aware enough to comprehend.

No one else can serve pain as beautiful as you can, and end with hope every time.

only you could discard all restraint of language, to reach into the vast neighborhood of ideas and symbols and a painter's palette and push the whole of yourself onto the printed page...my goodness

the simplest myths run the deepest through all of our souls ... always in awe of your creative mind ...

The second stanza flows through me ...

Jake and I are in agreement. Everything you offer to the world induces an equal balance of tears and beauty. You are loved and admired by so many, Selene. When you are gone, for those of us who are used to dining at your table of poetry, it's utter famine. This poem is like the finest wine. You are a one of a kind wonder with how your mind translates reality. You have a gift. And to us, you are a gift.

Myth is sometimes as simple
as a girl hanging wash on a line
dreaming through the fabric
becoming pleats
under a sky made of words
where the book builds the world

Incredible insights into the center of being alive.

Oh Selene... perfection. Words to tattoo on the soul.
Such majesty in this work. A voice found. A heart regained. Knowledge unsurpassed. You own the key to the kingdom.

you're just too good at times!! this is an example - so much said - the trip through 100s of different scenes and images, words twisting - such an imagination! I love all of it - but these lines in particular:

"to rescue a torn dove
from the woodsman’s axe ready to chop the braided cord
from the apple tree
because hope is like a bridge between my shell
and the pulp of a leaf between the fingertips of a boy
shall he pluck it and make an arrow
or plant it between the ribs of a broken sun"

brilliant, tasty and filling fare! I especially enjoyed, "Myth is sometimes as simple
as a girl hanging wash on a line
dreaming through the fabric
becoming pleats
under a sky made of words
where the book builds the world"

well done! :o) wishing you laughter
