My Life Has Changed...

My Life Has Changed...

A Poem by Sirius King

This tale is true,
and mine.

It’s funny how things
change with time.

My passion for life
felt so strong

God, send someone
to tell me what went wrong.

Did determination leave-

When those I loved passed?

Did it creep out slowly…

or abruptly with a blast?

An ocean of emotions

Frozen then broken

Explosion

 Causing uncontrolled commotion

Standing on thin ice
  Feels so familiar its strange

If those from my
childhood could see me now

Would they even know
my name?

My life has changed…

This story is mine,
and very true

I’ve lost so much of
myself over the years

I don’t know what to
do.

Will I forever be
damned…?

Trying to find out
who I am?

-the strong one

-the oldest

-the leader

-the one who could
never follow

Trouble surrounded me

And pride is hard to
swallow

When my soul leaves
this earth

Who will miss me?

Will I be
reincarnated as a distant memory?

Or will my name be
deeply etched, leaving a legacy?

After every drought

There is always rain.

Every great man has
to endure unbearable pain.

If I don’t prevail- I’ll
only have myself to blame.

My life has changed.

I now praise the new
spirit

Within me it is born.

The death of
innocence

is what I mourn…

I like the questioning nature of this. I think we have all done what is represented in this poem on occasion. Personally, I have found that who we are is always changing. We are all our own greatest works of art. It is not until the very end that the last brush stroke is made and who we were is fully seen. "The death of innocence"...yes, I understand. But it was always meant to die. Well done.

I really enjoyed this piece. The way you portrayed your emotion like frozen ocean than exploding was nicely done.

Great write. Esp like 'Every great man has to endure unendurable pain'. I think life takes little bits of us every day. We are lucky to have our years, but they come at a price. We change, as you say. Maybe some of us die many times in our lives. Yes, it is sad to experience this diminution of life within us. It just plain hurts like hell. But it is our lot. Maybe the real measure of us is how we deal with it. I don't think we have to be lesser or weaker after the changes. With luck we get wisdom and can find calmnesses we never can when we are 8-18-28-38. I have 3 kids and they have definitely changed me, but I am in them, too. So we go on! Enjoyed the read cos you made me think .. and feel.

I particularly like the layout of this, its unique - something I really, really admire. Lately I have been let down when reading various writings on this website, but you have given me hope to keep searching for true talent. Good job!

wow thanx! very encouraging
A lot going on in this introspective poem. Funny how we can spend our first 15/20 years trying to lose our innocence then the rest of our lives looking for it...
