Longing

Longing

A Poem by Ken Baldwin

Sadness and apathy reign,
Always on the verge of tears.
Taking all of my effort,
Just to do the bare minimum.

When can I have my heart back?
I have things to accomplish.
Goals I want to achieve.
But I'm stuck in this limbo.

No freedom, no peace,
Joy has been taken.
Darkness replacing the light.
A murky weight that stifles me.

Ever exhausted,
Sleep elusive.
Nights are long,
And lonely.

Longing to hold someone,
That will care for me,
Love away the pain,
And repel the darkness.
