Silhouette in Shackles

Silhouette in Shackles

A Poem by shallimarRose
"

Possessiveness, bondage, shadows, self esteem, freedom, shallimarRose, poetry

"

She is but a shadow,

She makes no move alone;

A silhouette in shackles,

she dare not leave her home...

If I could see beyond her smile

what would her sad eyes tell?

I watch her drift from room to room,

I know those rooms too well....

Suddenly she's looking back,

she sees me pass her by.

I know if she could budge the door,

that silhouette would fly....

She is but a silhouette,

he's the keeper of the key.

That silhouette in shackles,

in the mirror......only me....

Thank you ShallimarRose and good friend for sharing this piece with us... even if it's 13 years ago, it's still as powerful as it is. I feel you carry such a strong bond with this person, and maybe it's family. You help this person through thick and thin, and be as strong as a rock in the sea for this person. It's a lovely heart you have, I felt that. I hope things, are better now... very beautifully crafted. hugs Eli.

It's a condition no one truly likes. Yet there's always some type of bondage in our lives. It's like a gravitational force we can't control. Yet if we learn to live with it & become stronger in the process. Then any form of bondage can be broken once & for all. Great work Rose. A compelling read. I'm adding this to my library. :)

Very vivid images, aptly expressed. A poignant write of being trapped, whatever the circumstance...

Palpably sad....it sounds like self-restriction to me and I can relate to it in some ways. Gentle, unforced verse. P.

Wow!! This honestly took my breath away. I love how you can feel this was a personal battle. She is sad and holding herself back and can't seem to find the strength to take the weight "Shackles" that holds her back off. I hope I have it right haha but truly a brilliant write :) well done!

Thank you for the nice review Jacob. Happy to see you here.. huggs!!!
I could feel the intensity. It is a sorrowful and debilitating feeling that resonates from these lines. I can't imagine feeling so constrained with fear. You wrote of it well, grasping this reader into the situation.

It was my pleasure.
Woah that was quite intense... I love a woman of mystery.

Also it feel a lot how I have the last few days working that overnight job, trapped with myself in a place darker than the night.

The pain hidden from others, sometimes ourselves, is the ultimate lonely pain...unshared, not understood. I felt waves of sadness washing over me as I read this. It is a painful work; a righteous work.

So many are bound - by circumstance, partners, physical or psychological confines... some find the courage to flee; others never do. Having known people who have endured possessive relationships, this calls to mind how they have had to live. You have illustrated the feeling of these chains well.
