Behind the Masquerade

Behind the Masquerade

A Poem by shallimarRose
"

the price of deception

"

Behind a mask of laughter,

feelings he tried to hide

he let her think he didn't care,

for he had too much pride

……..behind the walls that he had built

to make him feel secure,

he lie awake, in solace pined

for love he thought once pure

behind the shadow of his smile,

a silent tear he shed

a scattered view of shattered dreams,

in silence his heart bled

……..behind a curtain of deception

to another gave her heart

without even a second thought,

she tore his world apart

,

behind the door of solitude,

the final price he paid

be couldn't bear to live his life,

behind the masquerade.....

Wow, he couldn't take it anymore. It goes deep when a man's been cheated on by someone he really cares about and loves. It's the same for woman too. Keeping it all inside is never a good thing. Great rhymes in this. Your poems are always good and smooth.

What a beautiful but sad story. The rhyme and flow are perfect. You did this as a teen?

How sad this is. The heart is fragile and even when the face wears a happy mask it can not hide the pain fo what is breaking inside. Very nicely done my sweet friend.
