Read my mind.

A Poem by Ashwin Shanker
"

Time for the muse to guide the artist

"

Stop staring at the blank paper,

I am right here.

Draw the first few strokes already,

There is no need to fear.

Start with my face, the oval outline,

C’mon, go ahead you will get it right.

You might have to curve it up a little,

When you continue along my right.

I see that you are looking down my neck now,

Get the creases of my shirt right,

Baby, it’s in the details,

C’mon, go ahead you will get it right.

Now, get a good look at my lips,

Am I smiling at you? Are you sure?

Am I nice, am I sour?

Do you think my lips have an allure?

We now look at each other eye to eye.

And your fingers pause for a bit, you are perspiring.

You better get this right the first time, no second try.

From my pupil to my iris, Baby it’s in the details,

But I am with you, C’mon, go ahead you will get it right.

I see your pencil sliding flat strokes along the sides,

Let each of your strokes do justice to my lush hair.

Baby, it’s in the details; I see your touches with care.

I want me to come out through you.

I want my expression to be expressed well.

I want my eyes to shine, my lips should tell.

That the best man to sketch the face; is you.

Hope you enjoyed the poem.
We all have that inner voice that guides us as we write, draw, sculpt, compose or while doing any work of creativity. In this work, I have decided to bring out that voice to life and describe it on paper. Now you may use your inner critical voice and type your feedback.

I liked the above lines. Good when we are allowed near and can paint the face of our love one. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Hello Ashan,

I think you have captured the creation of a figurative beautifully. I had not quite thought about the process in which art is made before now. Well done!

Thank you for sharing!

Kind regards,

Wonderful process of the Muse guiding here Ashan :) I really enjoyed this, it is unique. I so often wish to draw but am a beginner at drawing, a matchstick man is my limit and even then it is crooked lol This was beautiful and so is the art :)

I think this is the first time that I am experimenting with such a font. thanks for the review.
Sounds exactly like that inner voice. It's funny how sometimes the things that everyone just excepts as always there, or just a part of life are the best writing topics.

Of course, I've got a lot of read requests still to look at, but I will get to it as soon as I can.
Its true what you have said through your poem, our creative spirit wants us to put our emotions and thoughts into a physical expression. Our needs to create are driven by a need to teach others of the yearnings of our soul or to learn ourselves of what we are made of. The pleasant surprise of when we have created a form of art is that initially we never realized that those words rested inside of us. So much of our creative ability is deeply flowing inside of us. To be able to free and nobly create with our inner beings is the rich quest we accept.
