Burn, Burn, Burn

Burn, Burn, Burn

A Poem by Sharkapillar
"

Ranting. I had a dream about my ex last night, woke up crying.

"
I have an overwhelming urge to create.
Stemming from that same urge,
I have a crushing desire to destroy.
Burn, burn, burn.
I want to create a love that doesn't exist
Use all my energy to believe in it
And look for it in someone who can't possibly love like this
Summon energy I don't have
(Thus wasting even more)
To love them
Love them.
Rejection, first.
Realization, next.
They were never real
I created the love
And it destroyed me.
All my fault.
I led myself to believe, only destroying it myself.
Now I've only papers to burn...
Words to erase...
Marks to conceal...
Wounds to heal... (If they'll heal)
But scars don't heal.
I have an overwhelming urge to create
Only to destroy it.
Burn,
Burn,
Burn..

A wonderfully dichotomous picture you paint. You make the reader swing back and forth between emotions like a fast-moving pendulum. Great write!

Frustration and depression are strong emotions. It leads us to fantasize things that reduce the intensity of our situation, or accomplish revenge, whether in our heads or on the page, thus reducing the stress. Dreams are enough to spur this on. I would put a space between "to love them."
To love them...really love them." Just an opinion.

Overall, a good poem with lots of emotion.
