Wash Me

Wash Me

A Poem by Shawna

Wash away the dust, you cold bitter rain.
Take all my fears, diminish all my pain.

You make it dark and harder for me to see.
What ever has become of you and of me?

Clouds rolling away in the big, bottomless sky,
I could hide from your touch but I don't even try.

You soak me from top to bottom, from head to toe,
Your answers are like daggers, straight to my soul.

So come and wash me now, you cold bitter rain.
You hit me like a pile of bricks or an oncoming train.

It's better this way to get it out and in the air,
evaporating as it's dripping from my nose and my hair.

But at least now it's gone, the fear and the pain,
thank you for washing me, you cold bitter rain.
